Banaba, or Lagerstroemia speciosa, is a tree native to tropical Southeast Asia. It belongs to the genus Lagerstroemia, also known as Crape Myrtle. The tree is widely distributed in India, Malaysia, and the Philippines, where it’s known as Jarul, Pride of India, or Giant Crape Myrtle.

*Banaba is a plant native to the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Research showed that  might help the body use insulin more efficiently.  The hypoglycemic effects of Banaba have been attributed to both corosolic acid as well as ellagitannins. Corosolic acid also exhibits antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant activities. Antioxidants in the extract may protect the kidneys from damage caused by chemotherapy drugs (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3468018/)
