Long pepper - Pipli - Piper longum - Dried fruit
Piper Longum Fruit , also known as Bi ba . Sulfur free, Chlorine free, Aluminum phosphate free,
can be easily ground in a spice grinder or crushed in a mortar and used as a substitute for black pepper, especially in dishes that require a softer and richer flavor. It is widely used in cooking and traditional medicine, it is generally assumed to be safe in moderate doses. It is also said to enhance the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric. However, in these modern days of ease and accessibility, organic turmeric is available in the form of powder with crushed pepper.
P. longum has demonstrated remarkable effects against numerous diseases and conditions, including cancer, inflammation, depression, diabetes, obesity, and hepatotoxicity. The plant markedly improves microbial infections, cardiac disease, and protects against the effects of radiation (Ramadas, 2104).
